“am I the only one?”

“am I the only one?”

Would it help if I told you that you are not alone?

There are other women out there just like you. It’s true. We frequently hear from women who believe the lie, “you are the only one.” Yet the truth is, there are women all over the country — all over Georgia, and even where you live — who have made the hard choice to place a child for adoption.

These women are at different stages of their stories. Some birthmothers you meet will openly share their stories of placing a child for adoption. She will show you pictures and talk about her child with joy and peace. Other women quietly guard their adoption story.

You may not see them, but they are there. She just may not be the woman you expect. She’s the forty-something mother of four who has never shared the story of her closed adoption. She is the college student who dared to realize she could not provide the life she dreamed for her baby. She is the woman who struggles with addiction and fears the life she would provide for her child if she chose to parent. Maybe she’s even the girl who sits next to you in church each Sunday.

The stories are different, but the journey to place a child for adoption is a common bond many women share.

I know that your current situation is so personal to you that it can be so lonely, but there are countless women who have felt that loneliness and want to share it with you.

The second I walked into Covenant Care I knew would not be alone anymore. There is a whole team of people to support you. It’s basically a family.

Remember that no matter what happens today tomorrow is another day and that everything will work out in the end. No matter how dark it is now God always promises a new day tomorrow.

If you are not ready to parent, the most selfless and loving thing we can do as mothers is choose adoption. You are not alone.

Making an adoption plan is never an easy decision, and many women wonder if they are the only ones who have made that choice. At Covenant Care, not only are there Birthmother Counselors ready to support you, there is also a community of birthmothers rallying together, ready to stand with you.

If you are interested in learning about this community of women, you can find more information here.
